Tipp City was founded in 1840 alongside the developing Miami and Erie Canal. Its name, inspired by William Henry Harrison’s nickname—Tippecanoe—was meant to suggest a city rich in history and heroic acts.
Tipp City is a popular tourist destination for those in search of urban comforts. The original downtown district contains numerous bars and red-light establishments. A canal that is no longer active can be found just east of downtown. As Tippecanoe City has grown, it has gradually annexed surrounding towns such as Hyattsville, a village located on Hyatt Street; Cowlesville, one of Monroe Township’s many villages; and Ginghamsburg, another township village with a distinct historical identity of its own.
Tipp City is home to numerous parks, including Veterans Memorial Park, Canal Lock Park and Kyle Park. These parks feature picnic tables, bike trails, playgrounds and fishing ponds. Nearby larger parks include Sycamore State Park, Englewood MetroPark and John Bryan State Park. Museums in Tipp City include the U.S. Air Force Museum, the National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center, and Piqua Historical Museum. The city’s historic sites include Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, which commemorates the work of Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Orville and Wilbur Wright.
Creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces with a purpose
We understand that you’re probably wondering about the cost of your landscaping project. We understand. We often will discuss a starting ballpark budget at the outset of the project just to make sure we’re in the right lane, and if you’re comfortable with that, we always put together an actual quote on your new yard or landscape, to be reviewed and approved by you before we start working. We will communicate with you along the way to make sure that everything is clear and understandable, that the vision is realistic with the budget, and that there are as few surprises as possible.
