Troy is the seat of Miami County, Ohio. The town was named after the ancient city of Troy, and became the county seat in 1808, replacing Staunton. Troy grew quickly due to its location on the Great Miami River and its proximity to important turnpikes such as the Miami and Erie Canal.
In 1840, Troy’s population was 1,351 people. The town’s population nearly doubled over the next six years as more people moved to the region in search of transportation infrastructure. In 1846, Troy contained six churches, two newspaper offices, a branch of Ohio’s state bank, one private academy, a Masonic hall, six warehouses, three flourmills, five sawmills, one iron foundry and one machine shop.
Troy remained a major agricultural center, utilizing canals and railroads to ship crops to market. The town’s population grew from 3,803 in 1880 to 4,590 people in 1890. Manufacturing businesses existed as well; in 1886, the Troy Buggy Works employed 146 workers and was the community’s largest employer. That same year, four newspapers, ten churches, and two banks serviced the community.
Creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces with a purpose
We understand that you’re probably wondering about the cost of your landscaping project. We understand. We often will discuss a starting ballpark budget at the outset of the project just to make sure we’re in the right lane, and if you’re comfortable with that, we always put together an actual quote on your new yard or landscape, to be reviewed and approved by you before we start working. We will communicate with you along the way to make sure that everything is clear and understandable, that the vision is realistic with the budget, and that there are as few surprises as possible.
When you decide to put in a landscape, you want to make sure that it’s high quality and that your needs are fulfilled. This is why we always put our quality first.
